Calculating the Cost of Certification

My wife recently convinced me to buy a push mower. After looking at the price tag, my first reaction was that even with the gasoline savings; it would take years to break even. I still purchased the mower intent on saving the world from fossil fuel emissions, but after a few uses it has become apparent there were hidden savings unaccounted for in my calculations. First, it takes much less time to pull out a push mower and go versus preparing a conventional mower with gasoline, oil, and getting it started.

The 2nd African Organic Conference highlights food security

My colleague Silvere Tovignan and I attended the 2nd African Organic Conference in Lusaka, Zambia. The theme for the conference was: Mainstreaming organic agriculture in the African development agenda”, with the overall objective being to promote the integration of organic agriculture into African policies and development agendas.
