AATCC, the Association of Textile, Apparel & Materials Professionals, provides test method development, quality control materials, and professional networking for thousands of members in 60 countries throughout the world.
AATCC is internationally recognized for its standard methods of testing fibers and fabrics to measure and evaluate such performance characteristics as colorfastness, appearance, soil release, dimensional change, and water resistance. Textile products destined for sale in the North American market are tested with AATCC test methods. New and updated test methods are published annually in the AATCC Technical Manual.
Founded as the American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AATCC) in 1921, today the scope of AATCC reaches far beyond chemists and colorists. The Association continues to evolve to meet the needs of those in the ever-changing textile and materials industries. Members typically participate in AATCC activities through one of our three interest groups—Chemical Applications, Concept 2 Consumer®, and Materials. These members are employees of textile, apparel, and home goods manufacturers; dye and chemical manufacturers; testing laboratories; consumer and retail organizations; government agencies; and colleges and universities.
AATCC's objectives are to increase knowledge, encourage research, and establish channels for the interchange professional communication and knowledge among our members. These goals are achieved through Committee and Section activities, and through the award-winning publications, AATCC Review, AATCC News, and the AATCC Journal of Research (coming soon!). Workshops, symposia, and a yearly International Conference address topics ranging from design technology to composite materials science. AATCC also offers a mobile app, and has a Facebook page, a Twitter stream, a YouTube page, and manages LinkedIn discussion groups for our three Interest Groups as well as a textile sustainability discussion group.
