Since its inception in 1953, Orta has been weaving a unique culture - a denim heritage passed from generation to generation. In 1985, Orta has transformed from a spinning and weaving company to a denim manufacturer who would become a name globally known very fast. The love and ambition for denim with brought many “first’s” for Orta. It produced the first rope-dyed denim in Turkey, became the first approved Turkish supplier for Levi’s in 1997, the first denim mill in the world to implement 3 different weaving techniques, and was the first denim company to achieve participating in the legendary Bread & Butter Show.
Transparency, commitment and trustworthiness have been the key elements of Orta’s philosophy. In 2007, with an extensive event called 3D:Design, Dream, Denim, Orta brought together local denim manufacturers with international denim brands. In 2009, Orta used 3% of organic cotton in its production without quoting an extra cost. As a company that incorporates emerging trends and fashion in its denim production, Orta is one of the few companies that collaborate with artists, designers, vintage dealers and trendsetters in order to convey its ideas to its partners. Every season, Orta gives trend presentations, develops capsule packages, and publishes seasonal journals for an updated look of denim. Today, Orta is one of the major denim fabric suppliers in the world, with a production of almost sixty million meters in its Turkey & Bahrain factories. And its journey has just begun.
