Textile Exchange and ACE (Action against Child Exploitation) will be hosting a seminar for brands and suppliers in Tokyo on June 8, 2018 at Waterras Common room 3F, beginning at 9:30am and ending at 12:30pm. A networking session with light snacks will follow. This event is free for members and only 2,000 yen (paid on-site) for non-members. The social interest in sustainable development goals (SDGs) and ethical products has increased, and the textile and apparel industry has also been drawing attention as an industry that plays a major role in achieving a sustainable society that considers human rights and the environment. Lee Tyler, Senior Manager of Standards Assurance will speak about Textile Exchange’s sustainability work with a focus on its standards (e.g. Organic Content Standard, Global Recycled Standard, Responsible Down Standard, Responsible Wool Standard). This will be followed by Yuko Tayanagi of ACE who will be speaking about the current situation of environmental and human rights tasks in cotton production areas and the efforts by Peace India Cotton project.
