2012 marks a new milestone year for sustainability at Clariant's Textile Business
In October 2012, Clariant will introduce its new sustainability service at the Textile Exchange’s Sustainable Textiles Conference in Hong Kong. The launch marks a new milestone in a “green year” already initiated at ITMA 2011, where Clariant launched a number of innovative products and processes aimed at helping textile manufacturers develop more sustainable textile solutions.
This year has seen Clariant:
· Awarded the EU Ecolabel for its Advanced Denim illustration collection (February);
· Joining the Sustainable Apparel Coalition (June);
· Launching Arkophob® FFR, a breakthrough fluorine-free long-lasting water repellent technology especially suited for outdoor gear and equipment markets(June);
· Awarded the ‘Innovation with Best Environmental Benefit’ award by ICIS's 2012 Innovation Awards for its Advanced Denim technology;
· Expanding its C6 chemistry production capacity and launching its new Nuva® N1811 C6-based microencapsulated technology with high efficiency (September).

In October 2012, Clariant will introduce a new sustainability service.
Clariant’s Textile Chemicals introduced its first sustainability service as early as 1996 and, in 2007, introduced 4E, a pioneering concept allowing customers to apprehend product selection though a holistic approach of Ecology (taking into account standards such as bluesign®1 OekoTex®2 or GOTS*); Economy (less water, time, energy); Efficiency (right first time, reproducibility, performance, higher build up) and Environment (bioelimination, fewer chemicals used and lower effluent load).
4E aimed to demonstrate to textile mills, brands and retailers that more sustainable solutions do not always come at a higher cost. 4E first allowed our customers to make a fact-based product selection through a calculation taking into account as many parameters as possible.
With its new sustainability service, Clariant will go one step beyond.
Clariant’s new sustainability service will aim at helping textile mills, brands and retailers to develop solutions that are more ecologically and economically sustainable by providing a fast, measurable and reliable approach to the selection of chemical product and process solutions.
Stringent standards, systematic approach and industry leadership will characterize the new service.
Stay tuned!
