DyStar Launches Annual Sustainability Report 2011

We are pleased to share with you DyStar Group’s second Annual Sustainability Report that contains data and information about our sustainability performance during the calendar year 2011.

In preparing the report, we have followed the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, the internationally recognized standard for sustainability reporting. This year’s report also includes our performance on the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Ten Principles that we endorsed last year.

Sustainability in the textile industry supply chain has gained even greater importance than before with the creation of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition which has recently launched Higgs Index to measure performance in the supply chain. This new development will likely prompt more suppliers to switch to sustainable products and services including dyes and chemicals.

Communicating our own social and environmental performance and providing information on our eco-friendly products and services through annual sustainability reports therefore has become more relevant and important than before. The report provides comprehensive information on our sustainability performance that many of our customers routinely seek.

Over the past one year, we have launched several initiatives to reduce our environmental impact. Your active participation in these initiatives is important in making them successful.

We have committed to publishing our sustainability report on annual basis. One of the main objectives of this report is to communicate our company’s social and environmental performance and what we are doing to make improvements. The report also explains what we consider as the most material issues and what our strategy is to create value for both the stakeholders and the shareholders. Our goals and targets and how we plan to achieve them too are included in the report. The report reinforces our commitment to operating in a socially and environmentally responsible and transparent manner.

The report includes comprehensive data, examples and case studies to describe our sustainability performance and approach in a number of areas that encompass ethics and compliance, product stewardship, energy, greenhouse gas emissions, water, wastewater, waste, occupational health and safety, employees, society and business. The report demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and being a responsible company.

The report not only presents social and environmental performance of our own operations, it also explains how our products and services reduce our customers’ environmental impact and make their operations safer.
