The Lenzing Group is an international group of companies with its headquarters in Austria, production sites in all major markets, and a global network of sales and marketing offices. Lenzing provides the global textile and nonwovens industry with high-quality cellulose fibers.
Lenzing quality and Lenzing innovative power set standards for man-made cellulose fibers world-wide. More than seventy years of fiber production Buchenwald-reducedexpertise make us the only producer world-wide of all three man-made cellulose fiber generations, from classic viscose to modal and TENCEL® lyocell. Lenzing's unique combination of consistent customer orientation with leadership in quality, innovation and technology is the foundation of our success.
Lenzing is committed to the principles of sustainable management and very high environmental standards. For the Lenzing Group sustainability has been a reality for many years. The natural raw material, wood or wood pulp is derived from managed tree farms for Lenzing Viscose®, Lenzing Modal®, and TENCEL®. With consideration to the manufacturing process, TENCEL® utilizes a closed-loop system to reuse solvent.
Lenzing is recognized in the industry for excellence in sustainability. In February 2011 ISPO awarded TENCEL® Sun the Eco Responsibility Award by ispo. The evaluation of sustainability is based on the ESPA key criteria, encompassing logistics, production, eco-compatibility, use, corporate culture and CSR. Two new categories were added this year due to the broad variety of products entering the competition. One of the new categories is “Fabrics & Fibers“. The award in this category was won by TENCEL® SUN.
TENCEL_C_imageThe most recent innovation is TENCEL® C, a fiber with chitosan from crab shells. Chitosan is being used in the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries due to its itch-relieving, cell-regulating, skin protecting and anti-bacterial properties. The TENCEL® fiber is well-known for its positive skin properties, due to its smooth fiber structure it feels particularly silky next to the skin. Its botanic origin – extracted from the raw material wood – ensures that it has good breathing properties. Textiles made of TENCEL® C prevent the skin from losing too much moisture right at the outset and thus improves skin protection.
