Unifi, Inc., a leading producer of synthetic fibers, operates with a sustainable mindset. From offices to manufacturing to shipping, Unifi does everything it can to create sustainable solutions. Unifi’s REPREVE® brand of fibers is made from 100% recycled materials and is one of the most earth-friendly fabric ingredients in the world. The latest development in the evolution of the REPREVE brand is the REPREVE Recycling Center. The Center was created to expand production capacities of REPREVE and satisfy high consumer demand for eco-friendly products.
While the primary goal of the REPREVE Recycling Center is to produce REPREVE, the Center was built for innovation and has allowed Unifi to introduce the REPREVE Textile Takeback Program. At the state-of-the-art REPREVE Recycling Center, Unifi recycles a variety of materials from different waste streams to create a new REPREVE Takeback fiber that includes recycled fabric content. Like all REPREVE fibers, it’s traceable, transparent and certifiably sustainable.
The Textile Takeback Program makes it possible to reclaim fabrics from REPREVE customers and recycle them back into the authentic recycled fiber of choice - REPREVE. Unifi will be working with direct and downstream customers to take back material throughout the supply chain. Through these partnerships, Unifi will provide the industry with a new way to cut out waste and move toward a zero waste goal. This first of its kind recycling program gives fabrics a second chance, potentially saving millions of pounds of textile manufacturing scraps that end up in landfills every year while representing Unifi’s commitment to environmental sustainability and long-term growth of the REPREVE brand.
