Chemical Engineer, R&D
Kintra Fibers is a materials science company creating bio-synthetic resin and yarns for the fashion industry, with backing from the world’s leading brands. We are seeking team members who are ready to chart new terrain and roll up their sleeves to build a new, nature-aligned fashion industry ecosystem.
The Chemical Engineer, R&D will:
- Review and develop scalable processes for the work-up and synthesis of Kintra materials
- Work with our polymer/fiber R&D teams and our Resin Operations Manager to qualify and improve enterprise formulations
- Develop metrics for tracking the quality and consistency of raw materials and intermediate chemistries
- Maintain detailed notes and prepare documentation to support our IP portfolio
The role requires:
- A deep understanding of polymer processing and characterization methods
- An intuitive understanding of how to identify key quality metrics of dispersions
- Hands on design, building, and prototyping of scalable process steps
- A creative, environmentally-minded approach to materials development
- A desire to work in a startup environment with a small team
- 5+ years’ experience in the chemical or adjacent industry with a strong background in small molecules
- MS or higher degree in Chemical Engineering or similar
- Familiarity with LCA software is a plus
