Join Us in Charting the Future for Cashmere In Mongolia

The active support of international buyers is a vital ingredient in ensuring the long term success and sustainability of the Cashmere sector in Mongolia, and its recovery from the current Covid-19 crisis. Textile Exchange and UNDP are convening an International Buyers Group (IBG), and we’d like you to contribute your expertise by joining this high-level group.

Through the IBG, participating brands will be supporting the development of the Mongolia Sustainable Cashmere Platform (MSCP). The IBG will receive briefings on progress in the Platform, and will be a key contributor to the Platform consultation process and the development of the Collective Action Plan. We hope participating brands can bring their insights, experience and energy to the International Buyers Group and help the MSCP meet its objectives.

Express your interest in joining the IBG by contacting our team at: ResponsibleCashmere@TextileExchange.org

What is the International Buyers Group?

The IBG is a small group of committed companies buying cashmere from Mongolia who support the objectives of the MSCP, who can represent the wider group of cashmere buyers. It will give input and feedback to the work of the MSCP.

Final TOR, timelines, scope etc for the group will be defined collaboratively and agreed between the founding members of the IBG, and will evolve as the MSCP develops its Collective Action Plan.

What do members have to do?

Members will meet regularly (mostly virtually) during 2020 and 2021 to receive briefings and input to MSCP. We’re looking for buyer insights into; helping to craft a definition for ‘sustainable cashmere’, the design of tools and terms of reference for studies, and identifying new incentives and finance mechanisms for herders.

We look forward to your engagement in this initiative.
