GANSO de Sostenibilidad

The GANSO Endorsement has been developed in response to a growing demand in the Colombian market for sustainable meat products and zero-deforestation. It addresses, on the one hand, the interest of producers in being recognized for their efforts associated with the sustainable management of the farms, and on the other hand, the need to have a mechanism that supports connecting this supply with market demand, with retailers and consumers looking for sustainable products.

The GANSO Endorsement of Sustainability (GANSO Endorsement) outlines a clear path towards sustainability in livestock production that aims to achieve transformative impacts at the farm level, landscape level, and in the value chain. This Guarantee was developed and is operated exclusively by GANSO.

The GANSO Endorsement offers a voluntary evaluation tool for producers and livestock companies interested in evaluating their management, and a guarantee mechanism for the market.

The GANSO Endorsement builds a value chain that recognizes and encourages continuous improvement in livestock production and provides a clear path to sustainability. It is a tool that facilitates the continuous improvement of livestock production for those who use it. The pillars of the GANSO Endorsement are framed in the objectives and principles of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB). The GRSB’s mission is to advance, support and communicate continuous improvement in the sustainability of the global beef value chain through leadership, science, and multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration.

Solidaridad

Solidaridad is working together with a local grassroots organization and the main objective of this first project is to obtain conclusions on possible areas for improvement to reach sustainable production and/or business models for small producers in the Chaco Seco in Salta while preserving and restoring the environment where they are carried out. The project has two areas of intervention:

  • Health and genetics
  • Infrastructure and water access

In the second stage of the projects, we aim to reach 2.000 producers in the same region of intervention and apply these proven small-scale models including Animal welfare, Environmental protection and restoration, Social and gender agenda, and other relevant topics.
