2018 OCRT Agenda

08:00    Registration & Coffee
09:00    Pre-OCRT Regional Meetings

This first hour gave regional delegations the place and space to discuss matters they see as most pressing, and also to prepare for the General Assembly later in the day. It was an “open space” set up so meetings were open (unless otherwise requested) and all OCRT participants were invited to take a seat at their chosen region’s table (or move between a few) and listen in or contribute as they wished.

10:00     Speed-Dating

Participants were invited to take a walk around the room and meet key players from each of the main organic cotton producing region of the world – without leaving the room! The bell rang every 10 minutes, at which point they could choose to move to another region, or stay where they were to learn more. This was a fantastic opportunity for brands and other interested participants to ask their burning questions to those who know the regions best.

11:00     Refreshment break
11:15     OCRT General Assembly: Opening

13:40     Regional Dialogues

After lunch, the General Assembly format came into its own, with regional delegations coming together in one room alongside brands, retailers and other industry stakeholders, to report out on success stories, innovations and initiatives. This inclusive format, which mirrors that used by the UN, enabled cross learning and experience sharing between regions and allowed attendees the chance to hear updates from each organic cotton producing region, rather than having to choose only one (as is the case with the traditional breakout format) – a particular benefit for brands and retailers sourcing from multiple regions. Time was reserved for Q&A throughout the day, so everyone had a chance to pitch in and ask questions.
