Communications Specialist

Responsibilities include identifying communication opportunities, developing and maintaining the communications calendar, creating social media posts, supporting the development/distribution of press releases, reports/publications, website maintenance, and coordinating both in-person and virtual events. Critical work is also tracking and measuring the results of communications activities.

The Position:

Reports to: President and Founder
Fully remote: USA EST
Key Collaborators: VP Programs and Stakeholder Engagement, Program Directors and Project Specialists
Key Results & Metrics:
- Communications calendar up-to-date
- Social Media growth of targeted followers.
- Reports released on time release and number of downloads of targeted stakeholders
- Events organized that meet targeted goals
- Distribution & pick up of press releases
- Maintenance of mailing list and targeted mailings
Key Responsibilities & Activities:
Strategy
Identify opportunities (events, editorials, etc) and execute campaigns that promote and grow brand awareness aligned with targets.
Communications Calendar
Develop communications calendar that includes organization’s events, reports, press releases, and social media.
Social Media
- Develop the overall SM calendar and posts. Obtain the necessary approval of partners & associated digital assets. Create relevant blog posts.
- Actively repost stakeholder/board member organization’s posts & other relevant circularity content.
- Monitoring, evaluation, and learnings on communications. Provide monthly metrics on #growth.
Press Releases
- Develop, distribute, and track all press releases. Coordinate responses to all editorial inquiries.
- Collaborate with Program Analysts to identify indicators and collect data for environmental assessments, business cases, and other relevant applications.
- Generate monthly status reports and share information with program participants.
Reports
- Prepares project reports with data provided by team members.
- Develop and release annual reports
Events
- Organize in-person, virtual webinars, and program meetings.
- Gather feedback and follow up
Key Competencies: Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Previous textile experience preferred.
- Previous remote work experience preferred
- Must be a self-starter, organized; thorough; able to process, absorb and transfer information expediently; and be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Requires competency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (GSuite), Airtable, Miro, web analytics, and various social media applications and other relevant software such as Canva.
- Outstanding written, communication, and editing skills.
- Ability to multitask, time-management, and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of SEO/SEM campaigns and marketing software such as content management systems
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or equivalent
- 5-8 years experience

$50,000 – $70,000 per year
