Position Summary
The Assurance Policy Technical Writer Specialist role is responsible for working with technical content experts to create assurance policy documentation that codifies the requirements, interpretation, and official guidance for assurance providers. The Specialist ensures a consistent approach and organization of information across the suite of assurance policy documentation, leads the drafting and finalization of the documents, and consults with key internal stakeholders both within the assurance team and with other technical experts across the department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the creation of assurance policies, guidance, calibrations, exemptions, and other normative criteria with support from technical experts that ensures assurance providers can consistently carry out their responsibilities as certification bodies and accreditation bodies.
- Consolidate technical, material and standards content expertise for guidance on topics related to content of assurance policies.
- Create internal standard operating procedures (SOPs) for internal processes that support the implementation of assurance policies.
- Contribute to the maintenance of assurance document library and related procedures.
- Prepare communications with assurance providers to disseminate knowledge about assurance policies.
- Contribute to the development of training materials for assurance providers, including in person trainings and online eLearning.
- Support the document finalization process
- Support regular updates of calibrations, exemptions, standards development and organization-wide policies, as needed.
- Support communications with assurance providers via the Hub and case management system, as needed on policy-related topics.
- Provide other general support to the assurance team and other teams within the department and across the organization.
- Represent Textile Exchange and its Standards at events.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least 5 years of experience writing and developing standards, policies, and procedures.
- Previous work with an international organization in a related industry.
- Exceptional written and grammatical proficiency in English (must have native-level fluency); proficiency in an additional language is a plus.
- Able to synthesize technical information on various topics into clear and understandable documents.
- Excellent computer skills including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, & Word and the ability to quickly learn
new systems. - Able to produce a high standard of work across all forms of media.
- A driven individual with a strong work ethic and high degree of autonomy. Self-starting and proactive.
- Highly attentive to detail with strong organizational and planning skills.
- Able to hit the ground running and working in a fast-paced environment.
- Motivated, energetic, determined, and with strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent speaking and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Textile Exchange or other textiles and/or sustainability standards systems, especially those that are part of the ISEAL Alliance, especially in a role related to certification/assurance/auditing.
- Management experience in a relevant industry including coaching and training team members.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 products and environment on a Windows-based PC.
- Relevant certifications in auditing and/or project management.
Employment Package
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week – Eastern Standard Time preferred
Required Travel: Less than 5% of time
Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 USD
