Textile Exchange is committed to building credible, internationally recognized standards that include assurance and monitoring and evaluations systems. A new standard comes into play whenever a gap is identified in the industry. For example, an identified industry gap in animal welfare standards with a chain of custody element is what led Textile Exchange to develop the Responsible Down Standard (RDS) and Responsible Wool Standard (RWS). In other fibers, such as leather, we have taken a different approach based on the realities of the supply chain and the impact areas that most need to be addressed. We are members of ISEAL and use their Codes of Practice across all of our standards.
