Why is latex no longer included in the scope of materials? 

Some materials originally proposed for the scope of the standard have been removed from the first version; this includes the removal of latex criteria that had been included in Draft 1. This decision is based on where we have decided we need to focus our resources to drive towards the release of the unified standard.

Latex processing at the initial phases of manufacturing is complex and mandates specific expertise when it comes to standards development and writing criteria that are credible for audit evaluations. The extent of research for criteria across all other materials in the unified standard scope is vast and has resulted in a decision to focus on certain priority materials.
