Position Summary
The Director, Impact Data and Reporting is a leadership role responsible for guiding and advancing Textile Exchange’s position as a “trusted authority” related to key industry data, impact measurement, and reporting. The Director provides strategic leadership, oversight, and guidance for the organization’s most critical data and reporting initiatives, including global production and portfolio volume reporting, climate and nature impact measurement, and the delivery of highly visible annual publications and tools.
This role plays a pivotal part in shaping Textile Exchange’s long-term vision for market and impact data, ensuring that methodologies are scientifically rigorous, practically relevant, and aligned with evolving voluntary and regulatory frameworks. The Director is responsible for building and leading a high-performing team, advancing innovation in climate and nature data, and strengthening Textile Exchange’s influence with stakeholders across the value chain. The Director will ensure that this work is fully connected to Textile Exchange’s 5-year strategy, theory of change, and organizational objectives.
This role requires a dynamic, visionary strategic leader with the ability to blend scientific rigor and innovative thinking to ensure data is accessible, useable, and highly relevant to the industry and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction for Textile Exchange’s data and reporting portfolio, ensuring it advances the organization’s climate and nature goals while meeting the needs of industry stakeholders and policymakers. Ensure connectivity with organizational Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) strategy.
- Anticipate emerging trends, regulatory shifts, and stakeholder needs to position Textile Exchange as a leading voice in impact data and measurement.
- Represent Textile Exchange in high-level forums, partnerships, and industry initiatives, acting as a visible ambassador for the organization’s impact agenda.
Market Data and Reporting:
- Define and champion the long-term strategic vision for Textile Exchange’s production and portfolio volume reporting, ensuring it evolves to meet industry needs and drives impact at scale.
- Provide strategic oversight and results analysis for Textile Exchange’s production and portfolio volume reporting, including (but not limited to) the annual Materials Market Report and related methodologies.
- Ensure methodologies and results are transparent, credible, and influential in shaping industry action.
Impact Data and Measurement:
- Oversee Textile Exchange’s life cycle assessment (LCA) portfolio, guiding studies from concept to publication across key materials and production systems.
- Lead the strategic development and implementation of nature-related impact measurement frameworks and approaches, ensuring alignment with global initiatives and evolving science.
- Provide strategic oversight of annual climate and nature impact modeling and progress tracking, including updates to methodologies, presentation of results
and ensuing that they lead to actionable insights.
Impact Tools and Reporting:
- Provide strategic
leadership for Textile Exchange’s annual reporting platform, ensuring alignment with the organization’s engagement model, preferred production system pathways, and external regulatory and voluntary reporting frameworks. Ensure that reporting approaches are developed with an eye to efficiency for users, delivery of a clear value proposition, and integration of existing Textile Exchange reporting mechanisms wherever possible. - Oversight of content and approach for Fiber and Materials Matrix as recognition mechanism for the Materials Matter Standard, in partnership with the Standards System Department.
- Strategic oversight of other impact tools, including the Materials Impact Explorer and Regenerative Agriculture Outcome Framework.
Organizational Leadership & Collaboration:
- Build, lead and mentor a high-performing team that reflects the organization’s values and strategic priorities, supporting the leadership of direct reports – ensuring they have the vision, resources, and guidance to succeed.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
- Partner with other senior leaders to ensure integration and alignment across departments.
- Contribute to organizational vision and decision-making.
- Support the CIO in
engaging with the Governance Board, funders, and external stakeholders, representing Textile Exchange’s impact work with credibility and authority
as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in
sustainability data, impact measurement, and/or reporting within the
fashion/
apparel/
textile industry. - Strong analytical mindset, balanced with a strategic and systemic approach. Ability to effectively “translate” technical information to non-technical users.
- Deep understanding of key industry sustainability topics.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills in English, with experience turning complex topics into accessible narratives.
- Experience in external representation and thought leadership, including public speaking
and media engagement. - Strategic thinker with demonstrated leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
- Passionate about Textile Exchange’s mission and deeply committed to advancing climate, nature, and livelihoods outcomes.
- Committed to equity, inclusion, and shared leadership, with a proven ability to work across diverse communities and global contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a global, remote
organization is a plus.
Employment Package
Schedule: 40 hours per week
Required Travel: Up to 30%
Salary Range: $140,000 – $175,000 USD
