Job Summary
The ESG Manager at Textile Exchange will play a pivotal role in advancing our Climate and Nature Impact workstreams by ensuring alignment to key ESG frameworks and requirements, to help drive connected and collective action across the fashion, apparel and textile industry.
This position, situated within the Climate and Nature Impact department, reporting to the Impact Tools Lead, will be instrumental in shaping the ESG aligned strategies for Textile Exchange’s Impact Tools, the Materials Benchmark, Impact Data and Measurement, and Reports and Research. This role will also serve as the lead point of contact for Textile Exchange in external working/ steering groups focused on the development of ESG reporting frameworks and guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Hold deep subject matter expertise on the landscape of global ESG reporting frameworks and requirements relevant to the fashion, apparel, and textile industry, and be responsible for tracking new and emerging frameworks.
- Ensure that Textile Exchange’s Impact Tools and supplementary materials are aligned to relevant ESG reporting frameworks, including conducting mapping exercises and providing recommendations, as well as working with relevant team members to execute recommendations.
- Represent Textile Exchange on external steering / working groups and feed into the development of new/emerging ESG reporting frameworks.
- Provide direction and develop guidance to support Textile Exchange members to report relevant ESG information on their tier 4 raw material supply chains.
- Support Impact Tools Lead in developing and executing strategies for Textile Exchange’s Impact Tools, ensuring alignment with the future development of external ESG frameworks wherever possible.
- Provide day-to-day support in developing and implementing changes to Textile Exchange’s Impact Tools, as well as producing methodology documentation and materials for external audiences.
- Work cross-functionally to provide key insights into all the Climate and Nature Impact workstreams, across Impact Tools, Impact Data & Measurement, Reports and Research, and Policy.
Minimum Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant sustainability or ESG-focused role.
- Working knowledge of/ or exposure to key ESG reporting frameworks and legislation, including Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), EU Regulation on Deforestation-free Products (EUDR), Taskforce on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Science Based Targets (SBTs), SBTs for Nature, Climate Disclosure Project (CDP), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), among others.
- Experience leading and/or completing ESG reporting requirements OR working on the development of ESG reporting frameworks.
- Analytical with a data-driven mindset, with strong ability to synthesize and convey the bigger picture.
- Strong written communication skills.
- Advanced competency in Excel.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in the fashion, textile and apparel industry is a plus.
- Working knowledge or exposure to sustainability / fashion or apparel industry ESG benchmarks, such as the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Sustainalytics, Fashion Revolution Transparency Index, Business of Fashion Sustainability Index, among others.
Employment Package
- Reports to: Impact Tools Lead
- Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week
- Location: Virtual/Remote
- Salary Range: 62,000 –94,000 USD
- To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).
- Our offers for salary and benefits are dependent on the region of the final candidate. We post most positions based on a US-based Team member, but final offers are made in alignment with the final candidate’s permanent residence and in line with Textile Exchange’s regional employment package.
