With our sights set on the future, we’re looking for an experienced Head of Sustainable Impact to join our team and help us deliver our strategy and be the world’s number one supplier of premium wool.
Job Description
The Role
Do you have an agri-science background, a talent for science communication and system design, and a customer mindset? Then look no further – as the Head of Sustainable Impact you will play a critical role in NZM’s aspiration to be the world’s #1 preferred supplier of wool.
As the Head of Sustainable Impact you will;
- Lead the design and delivery of the Integrity Systems that add value to our wool, leveraging the power of scientific data to differentiate and substantiate wool claims in the market.
- Maximise customers’ trust in NZM wool by identifying and adopting effective measurement systems, data integrity procedures, and alignment with internationally accepted principles relating to sustainability and textile supply chains.
- Identify and establish strategic partnerships to improve the validity, transparency, and recognition of the data used to differentiate our wool and enable claims.
- Provide thought leadership and science expertise on sustainability and regenerative agriculture to support commercial opportunities and add to NZM’s value proposition.
- Maintain a view of the global regulatory landscape that impacts on textile supply chains
- Develop a network of professional relationships in the textile sustainability and regenerative agriculture spheres to stay at the forefront of thinking and innovation.
Desired Skills and Experience
The Person
- Degree in Environmental science or an equivalent field, including papers on Life cycle assessment and/or carbon accounting, sustainable agriculture, textile sustainability, supply chain, and circular economy.
- High level of understanding and affinity for agriculture, including land management and/or animal welfare.
- 7 years experience in science program management, working on R&D and sustainability
- Strong understanding of on-farm application of sustainability and regenerative methodologies e.g. life cycle assessment, circular economy, carbon accounting, soil health principles, etc.
- Strong written and verbal communication, relationship building and influencing skills
- Commercial and business acumen
