Share your feedback on the Organic Content Standard (OCS)

At Textile Exchange, we are dedicated to continuously improving our standards system. We want to ensure that it remains robust, relevant, and responsive to the needs of our stakeholders while also driving impact, and we do this by incorporating ongoing input and practical experience into our standards through regular consultations. To this end, we are now seeking open feedback on the current version of the Organic Content Standard (OCS) V3.0.

The Organic Content Standard is a chain of custody standard that tracks certified organic content through the supply chain. It accepts raw materials certified to any national organic standard recognized by the IFOAM Family of Standards, and then manages its chain of custody from the first processor through to the final product. You can review the current OCS V3.0 here

In 2021, we began a major revision of our standards framework to develop a harmonized system that builds on our existing suite of standards. The Materials Matter Standard (previously known as the “unified standard”) is designed to meaningfully integrate Textile Exchange’s Climate+ strategy into the production of all raw materials covered by our certification.

We made the decision in 2024 to maintain the Organic Content Standard as a standalone standard while we work to strengthen its current framework. At the same time, we remain committed to a longer-term plan to explore how it could be integrated into the Materials Matter system in the future.

As we move forward, we are launching this open feedback period to better understand your experiences using the Organic Content Standard, identify opportunities for improvement, and explore integration with the Materials Matter system. Your input will help us enhance the standard and ensure it continues to align with industry needs and expectations.

Consultation timeline

The open feedback period begins on March 3, 2025 and closes on April 30, 2025
