Textile Exchange releases 2024 Annual Report

For Textile Exchange, 2024 was a year of deepening our resolve and doubling down on our priorities to meet the scale of action needed for our 2030 goals. Our latest Annual Report shows how this renewed focus shaped our work in transformative ways, capturing new milestones across standards and assurance, impact measurement, and industry engagement.

Having reached a record 90,000 sites worldwide certified to our existing material sustainability standards, we made major strides toward transitioning this system to the Materials Matter Standard. Pilot criteria were tested through audits and workshops across key regions, while our Trackit program expanded to strengthen traceability for certified materials. We also began overhauling our accreditation and certification procedures to support the shift.

Our impact measurement work progressed through record participation in the Materials Benchmark at 418 participants, the development of seven new Life Cycle Assessment studies, and the launch of our Life Cycle Inventory Library. We released two landmark publications — The Future of Synthetics and the Reimagining Growth Landscape Analysis — to help address two major system-level challenges we identified. In parallel, we deepened our policy engagement with the publication of our policy manifesto and our input on textile product requirements within the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation.

With more than 1,800 participants at our 2024 Conference, we continued to convene the industry around shared learning and action, with growing participation from Tier 4 stakeholders. We also expanded our presence at events like New York Climate Week and fostered peer-to-peer learning and alignment through practical regional events for material producers.
